Blocktopus App Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: November 18, 2025

1. ACCEPTANCE & LICENSE

By purchasing or using Blocktopus ("App"), you agree to these Terms. The App is a one-time purchase granting you a non-transferable license for personal use on your iOS devices. All current features are included.

2. SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Blocktopus is an honor-based focus app for adults that:

  • Creates timed focus sessions (2-480 minutes) with voluntary "Ink Pact" commitments

  • Uses iOS Screen Time API to restrict up to 50 selected apps during sessions

  • Allows early exit anytime without penalty

  • Stores all data locally on your device

  • Cannot restrict iOS Settings app (Apple limitation)

Important: This is not a parental control tool. Sessions are voluntary commitments that you can bypass through iOS Settings.

3. DATA & PRIVACY

  • No accounts required: No registration, login, or personal information is collected

  • All data stays local: Session history, signatures, and settings are stored only on your device

  • Data deleted when App deleted: No external backups are performed unless you enable iCloud

  • Required permissions: Screen Time is necessary (for app restrictions)

4. LIMITATIONS & DISCLAIMERS

THIS APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

We are not liable for:

  • Lost productivity or missed obligations

  • Data loss from device failure or app deletion

  • Inability to access apps during emergencies

  • Failure to maintain focus or complete sessions

Maximum Liability: The amount you paid for the App

Technical Limitations:

  • You can disable restrictions via iOS Settings anytime

  • Settings app cannot be restricted

  • Requires iOS 17.0+

  • Maximum 50 apps restricted per session

  • Session data auto-deleted after 90 days

5. EMERGENCY ACCESS

Do not use the App during critical situations.

To regain app access:

  • Settings → Screen Time → Apps With Screen Time Access → Blocktopus → Disable Screen Time Authorization

  • Delete the App and re-download

6. PROHIBITED USES

You may not:

  • Use the App if under 18 years old

  • Use the App to monitor or control others' devices

  • Reverse engineer or resell the App

  • Use for any illegal purpose

  • Share your purchase to avoid others paying for the App

7. APPLE-SPECIFIC TERMS

  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple

  • Apple has no support/maintenance obligations

  • Apple processes payments and refunds per App Store policies

  • You must comply with App Store Terms of Service

  • Apple is a third-party beneficiary with enforcement rights

8. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify us from all claims arising from your use or any Terms violation.

9. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

  • Governing Law: Delaware, USA

  • Disputes: To be resolved first through good faith negotiations; if negotations fail, to be resolved through binding arbitration (JAMS rules)

  • Class Action Waiver: Individual claims only

  • Time Limit: Claims must be brought within 1 year

10. GENERAL

  • Software Updates: Updates will be delivered through the App Store

  • Modification: We may modify these Terms with notice via App updates

  • Refunds: Handled by Apple per App Store policies

  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is invalid, the others remain in effect

11. ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By purchasing or using the App, you confirm:

  • You are 18+ years old

  • You understand this is an honor-based productivity tool

  • You accept these Terms

  • You won't use the App in emergency situations

  • All sales of the App are final (except as required by law)
